Great games at the Suburbabn League Tournament. A last at bat win against Waconia and a hard fought game against Prior Lake. 

We are all very proud of you!

Hope you all had as much fun as the other coaches and I did.  Thanks for playing hard, treating each other with respect, being good sports both when we won or lost, and just plain being on the team.

Thank you to all the parents for being dedicated by getting the girls to all the practices, games, extra practices and extra games when possible.  I know it can be a lot at the 8U level. Thanks to the scorekeepers, treat bringers, photographers, and coaches.

Mon 6/21

Great games on Sat against Prior Lake.  We play tonight wheather permitting against the Dynamite.  We have one more practice, then the Suburban League Tourney in Eden Prairie and that's it.  It has gone by very fast for me.  We'd like to have an end of season party on either Monday 6/28 or Wed 6/30.  Maybe have a kids vs parents game, pot luck?  Open to any and all ideas.  Hopefully those days will work since we are already used to the schedule.  I'll send an email out to get responses.

Sun 6/6- Anoka/Ramsey Tourney

3rd Place in the Gold Bracket! - I had a blast Hurricanes.  I hope you did to.  Thank you for all your effort and listening to the coaches.  We were all proud of you!  That is a lot of games in two days and in the rain for most of the day Saturday but I never heard one complaint.  You guys had a great attitude and played well.  Great Tournament Ladies!  Thank your family for bringing you, paying your entry fee, and feeding you.

Thanks to all the coaches (Gabby, Amy, Kim, and Gary) for all the work they did.

Wed 6/2- 4th Game of the year vs Prior lake

Great Game Ladies!  We played well, hit the ball, made a few good defensive plays and scored 10 runs!  Thanks to Claire for bringing the watermelon!   Three things the coaches noticed tonight that we can work on

1) Know what you are going to do with the ball if its hit to you - every batter is a new situation and the answer to that question depends on where the runners are and how many outs there are.  You can always ask a coach if you are not sure Also know what you are going to do if the ball is NOT hit to you...what base are you covering or who are you backing up?  

2) We need to run hard through 1st base after we hit th ball.  It seemed everyone either watched where the ball was or stopped on first instead of running through.  After we hit, we run as hard as we can watching the 1st base coach to either signal us to run straight through or turn to second base. 

3) Take your time on the throws and catches.  Its easy to get all nervous or excited when we get a ball hit to us.  We make the stop then make a nice scarecrow throw just like we practice so much.  We can then either step on the base if there is a force or tag the runner

We are very proud of all of you!  hope you are havign fun this season. Be sure to thank whoever brought you to our game and who is cheering you on!

Wed 5/19 - 2nd Game of the year vs Prior lake

Great game Rocket Mist!  We played incredible defense with a fly ball catch, several throw outs at third base, some run outs at first, and nice ground ball stops.  We held them to just 2 runs in the first inning and shut them down after that!   Our bats werent there as much but we threatened with bases loaded in 3 innings...just couldnt get the runs in.  Hope you all had fun though and learned more!  I'm having a blast this year.  You are all doing great!

Practice tonight at 6:00 - we'll work on bunting, covering the bunt, sliding (bring your shorts/pads) as well as few other things.

Anoka-Ramsey - Joint team with other 8U team - June 5th and 6th - 3rd Place Gold Bracket!
Bloomington - 8U teams are scheduled to play each other on SUNDAY June 13th at noon on field #8. (In the wheel)
